Short Story Saturday

*Change of plans, instead of posting a whole story each Saturday, I will be posting half each Saturday. I didn't realize that it was going to be so hard to write a whole short story in just one week.
So with that being said here is half of the story (title TBA):

It was 1am and I should be sound asleep, but I can’t sleep when I hear mumbling and noise down in the kitchen. What could it be, mom was at work and Billy was at his friends' house? What if it was a burglar!? I quietly got out of bed and opened my bedroom door. As I go down the steps the noise got louder.
-creak-
I stopped suddenly and thought to myself ‘Oh shoot! I forgot about that step!’ I stood there for about a minute to see if I’d been heard, but the noise continued. As I proceeded forward I heard, what I thought was mumbling, crying. As I rounded the corner of the kitchen I froze at the sight I was seeing. Could it be? No, it can’t be. I saw a ghost, and the ghost was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
A crying ghost was in my kitchen eating a freaking peanut butter and jelly sandwich! I must be dreaming. I pinched myself ‘Ouch’ I said softly, but not softly enough because the ghost spun around in shock.
‘Abby?’ The ghost asked.
All I could do was stand there, no words came out.
‘Don’t you recognize me?’
‘I.. um, I kn.. know who you are, but that is impossible! You died 3 years ago.’ I finally spoke. ‘How are you here, and how can I see you?’
‘I’ve been here ever since I died, reliving the moment I died over and over. I don’t know how you are able to see me though since you weren’t able to in the past. Wait what’s today? March 24, your 16th birthday! Oh no.’
‘What dad?’
‘I was hoping that it wouldn’t pass down to either of you kids, but I guess it did.’
I stood there in shock, ‘What are you talking about?’
‘Abby, listen, you have the ability to see and hear spirits, just like me. Well, I could when I was alive.’
‘You must be joking! I can’t see ghosts!’
‘Honey, then how can you see me? Plus I’m a spirit, not a ghost.’
‘Spirit, whatever! Just because I am seeing you doesn’t mean I can see others!’
‘Hey, calm dow..’
‘CALM DOWN?! YOU’RE TELLING ME TO CALM DOWN?’
‘Yelling isn’t going to solve anything, Abigail Marie, now calm down! Just breath and when you’re calmed down then we’ll talk, okay?’
And just like that, he vanished.
I stood there for a few more minutes and thought to myself, ‘what in the world just happened?’. I try and process what just happened while walking back upstairs and into my bed, but I couldn’t sleep. Not after what just happened.
Next thing I hear is someone coming through the front door.
‘Abigail, I’m home!’ mom said from the bottom of the stairs.

Holy shit is it really already 7?
